Terms of Service
Last updated: 26 October 2026
These terms apply when you use TakeJournal, the web site takejournal.com and the app at app.takejournal.com. By creating an account you agree to them. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.
1. Who provides TakeJournal
Section titled “1. Who provides TakeJournal”TakeJournal is provided by IT System Development s.r.o., Roztylská 1860/1, 148 00 Praha 4 – Chodov, Czech Republic, company ID (IČO) 07553897, VAT ID CZ07553897, registered in the Commercial Register kept by the Municipal Court in Prague, Section C, Insert 302019 (“we”). Contact: support@takejournal.com.
2. What TakeJournal does, and what it does not
Section titled “2. What TakeJournal does, and what it does not”- TakeJournal is a trading journal. It reads your trades from your broker with the login you give it, or from files you import, and shows them with statistics, a calendar, charts and your notes.
- It only reads. It never places, changes or cancels an order.
- It is not investment advice, not a broker and not a prop firm, and it is not affiliated with your broker, your prop firm or their technology providers.
- Some links to brokers or prop firms may be affiliate links: if you buy through one, the firm may pay us a commission. It does not change your price and does not decide which firms TakeJournal works with or shows.
- Figures such as results, fees, balances, the distance to a drawdown limit, or the best and worst price during a trade are computed from data we receive. They can be late, incomplete or wrong. Before you act on them, check the official figures of your broker and your prop firm.
3. Your account
Section titled “3. Your account”- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Give a true e-mail address and keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with your account. One account is for one person.
- Tell us at once at support@takejournal.com if you think someone else has used your account.
4. Access to your broker
Section titled “4. Access to your broker”When you add a broker connection, you instruct us to sign in to your broker with that login, read only, to fetch your accounts and trades. Where a platform gives you an API key instead of a login (for example TopstepX), the same applies: the key may allow trading, but TakeJournal uses it only to read, never to place, change or cancel an order, and stores it encrypted. You confirm that you may do so under the terms of your broker and of your prop firm. You can delete the connection at any time; its stored login or key is deleted with it. Where a platform lets you sign in on its own page and gives TakeJournal a token instead of your login (for example tastytrade, cTrader or Tradovate), the same applies to that token.
5. Fair use
Section titled “5. Fair use”Do not try to reach other users’ data, to overload or disrupt the service, to get around its limits, or to use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and we tell you why.
The API and AI assistants. On a plan that includes them, you can read your journal through TakeJournal’s API with a key you create, or connect an AI assistant of another company to it through TakeJournal’s MCP server. Both only read. A key is for your own use: keep it secret, do not give it to others or build a service for others on it, and revoke it if it may have leaked. You are responsible for what is read with your keys and with the assistants you connect. Calls are limited per minute and per day as your plan shows; we refuse calls above the limits, and we may revoke a key or disconnect an assistant that is misused, and tell you why. An assistant you connect is its provider’s service under that provider’s terms: we are not responsible for what it does with what it reads, nor for its answers; the figures it quotes are subject to section 2.
One person may hold one account on the Free plan. Opening more to stay within its limits is getting around them: we compare trades between accounts to find it, as the privacy policy describes, and a person on our team decides before any account is suspended.
6. Plans and limits
Section titled “6. Plans and limits”What you can use, and how much (for example the number of accounts, the length of the history, the storage), depends on your plan as shown in the app and on the pricing page. The Free plan has no time limit. A 7-day trial of a paid plan can be started once; it needs no card and ends by itself, and nothing is charged for it. If we change a plan to your disadvantage we tell you at least 30 days in advance.
7. Paid plans and payment
Section titled “7. Paid plans and payment”- Prices are in US dollars without VAT. For customers in the EU, VAT is added on the payment page before you pay; a business with a valid EU VAT ID enters it there and pays no VAT (reverse charge). The total is shown before you pay.
- Payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Limited, Ireland). We never see or store your card details. Your invoices are in Manage billing on your Profile page.
- A subscription is for a month or a year and renews by itself for the same period until you cancel it; each period is charged at its start. Before a yearly plan renews, we e-mail you the date and the amount.
- You can cancel at any time in Manage billing. The plan then runs to the end of the period you paid for and is not renewed. You can change the plan or the period there too: a bigger plan applies at once, and the difference for the rest of the period is charged at once; a smaller plan, or monthly instead of yearly, applies from the end of the paid period.
- A monthly plan can be paused for one, two or three months, once in twelve months, on your Profile page under Plan and billing; a yearly plan cannot. The pause starts at the end of the month you paid: nothing is charged while it lasts, your account works as on Free meanwhile (nothing is deleted, as when a paid plan ends), and the plan comes back with its next payment, at your price, when the pause ends. You can take a pause back before it begins, or resume earlier, which starts a new month charged at once. A promotion code’s months keep running during a pause.
- If a renewal cannot be charged, Stripe retries the card for up to two weeks and you keep your plan meanwhile; if it is still not paid, the subscription ends and your account returns to Free.
- When a paid plan ends, nothing is deleted: its features stop, accounts above the Free plan’s limit wait until you choose which stay in use, and history older than the plan allows is hidden until a plan allows it again.
- We may change prices. A new price applies to a running subscription only from a renewal at least 30 days after we tell you by e-mail; you can cancel before then.
- A promotion code gives the discount its offer states: a share or an amount off the first payment, the payments of some months or every payment. You enter it at the checkout, or a link brings it; it cannot be added to a payment already made and is not exchanged for money. An offer may be limited in time, in its number of uses, to new customers or to some plans. A code may also lower the price of a change to a bigger plan. An offer may also give a first subscription some days free before its first payment: nothing is charged during them, and a subscription cancelled before they end is never charged. A code may come from a partner (a web site or a creator) who earns a commission from us on the payments made with it; that does not change your price or the offer.
- The referral programme: with a paid plan you get your own invitation link. A trader who creates an account through it and subscribes within 30 days gets the discount the programme offers on their first subscription (a promotion code they use takes its place). When that trader’s first payment is 14 days old and has not been refunded, you get its amount without VAT as credit on your balance at Stripe, which is taken off your next payments; the credit is not paid out or exchanged for money. Your credit is limited to the price of a year of your plan; a reward above it waits until it fits. One reward per invited trader; inviting yourself, or accounts made to collect rewards, earns nothing, and we may take such rewards back. We may change or end the programme; credit already given stays. A plan given to you for free (a promotion code of 100%) keeps your link and the invited trader’s discount, but earns no credit: a trader’s first payment made while your plan costs you nothing brings no reward.
- Deleting your account cancels its subscription at once; a refund under section 8 can still be asked for.
8. Refunds and the right to withdraw
Section titled “8. Refunds and the right to withdraw”- First payment of a yearly plan: within 14 days of it you can ask for the whole amount back.
- First payment of a monthly plan: within 14 days of it you can withdraw and get back the part of the month you have not used.
- Renewals are not refunded: you can cancel before a renewal, and a monthly plan runs to the end of its paid month.
- The right to withdraw. If you are a consumer in the EU, you may withdraw from the contract within 14 days of concluding it without giving a reason. At the checkout you ask for your plan to start at once, so the service begins within those 14 days; if you then withdraw, you pay for the days you used and we refund the rest (for the first payment of a yearly plan, the whole amount, as above). The same applies to everyone, wherever you live.
- How: write to support@takejournal.com, preferably from your account’s e-mail address; any clear statement is enough, and you may use the form below. We refund within 14 days of your request, to the card you paid with.
Model withdrawal form (fill it in and send it only if you want to withdraw from the contract): To IT System Development s.r.o., Roztylská 1860/1, 148 00 Praha 4 – Chodov, Czech Republic, support@takejournal.com: I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the provision of the following service: TakeJournal, plan …, ordered on … / Name: … / E-mail address of the account: … / Date: …
9. Your data
Section titled “9. Your data”Your data stays yours. You allow us to store and process it to provide TakeJournal to you and, without anything that identifies you, to count it in anonymous statistics over many traders (you can switch that off in your profile), as described in the Privacy Policy. You can ask for a copy of it or for its deletion at any time. If you publish something (a shared page, a public profile, a place on a leaderboard), you allow us to show it as you chose until you take it down; it must not break the law or the rights of others, and we may take down what does.
10. Availability
Section titled “10. Availability”We work to keep TakeJournal available and correct, but we provide it as it is and cannot promise that it works without interruption or error. We may change or add features; we tell you in advance about changes that take something away from you.
11. Liability
Section titled “11. Liability”Trading decisions are yours. We are not liable for trading losses or for lost profits, and, as far as the law allows, our liability for anything else is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. This does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, nor any right you have as a consumer.
12. Ending
Section titled “12. Ending”You can stop using TakeJournal and delete your account yourself on your Profile page at any time. We may end the service with 30 days’ notice by e-mail, or at once if you seriously break these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
Section titled “13. Changes to these terms”We publish changes here with the date. We tell registered users about important changes by e-mail at least 30 days before they apply; if you do not agree, you can end your account before then.
14. Law and disputes
Section titled “14. Law and disputes”These terms are governed by Czech law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live and may go to its courts. Consumers can also turn to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (coi.gov.cz) for out-of-court resolution of a dispute with us.
15. Names of others
Section titled “15. Names of others”Rithmic, Bookmap and the names of brokers and prop firms are trademarks of their owners. We mention them only to describe what TakeJournal works with.
