Brokers and imports

Honest about what works today. Live sync where the platform allows it, file imports where it does not, and the trades you type in by hand.

Trading a prop firm’s accounts? Every firm TakeJournal knows, with its account types and the rules it checks: Prop firms →

TakeJournal signs in with your Rithmic login, read-only, and reads the fills of every account behind it with each sync; it never sends an order. This covers the futures prop firms whose accounts run on Rithmic (Apex, Bulenox, Take Profit Trader and others; Topstep runs on TopstepX, below). Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. Through the ProjectX API with your own API key, read-only: Combine, XFA and Practice accounts (Live Funded accounts are not on the API). The key needs the ProjectX API Access subscription (dashboard.projectx.com, $29 a month; the code topstep takes 50 % off), linked in TopstepX under Settings → API, and is made there; the user name is your platform login, not your e-mail. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

TakeJournal’s add-on runs inside NinjaTrader 8 Desktop and sends each execution of its accounts as it happens, read-only, on any connection NinjaTrader trades through (the NinjaTrader connection to Tradovate, Rithmic, CQG). NinjaTrader shows an add-on the current session only, so older executions come by the Executions export. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to install →

TakeJournal’s program runs in your MetaTrader terminal (a service in MT5, an Expert Advisor in MT4) and sends the account’s whole history and each new deal, read-only: forex, metals and CFDs with the broker’s lot sizes, the swap, the deposits and withdrawals. The terminal has to run, on your PC or a VPS. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to set it up →

Through Spotware’s Open API, read-only: you sign in with your cTrader ID at cTrader and choose the accounts TakeJournal may view, at any broker on cTrader; the sync reads their deals, deposits and withdrawals from TakeJournal’s server, forex, metals and CFDs with the broker’s lot sizes, and nothing runs on your PC. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

TakeJournal signs in to TradeLocker’s API with your e-mail, password and server and reads the order history of every account behind the sign-in, read-only: forex, metals and CFDs with the broker’s lot sizes; TradeLocker’s history has no commissions or swaps. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

TakeJournal signs in to the platform’s API with the address, user name and password your firm sent you and reads every account behind the sign-in, read-only: forex, metals and CFDs with the platform’s lot sizes, the commissions and swaps, the deposits and the withdrawals; also under a broker’s own name, such as Blueberry X. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

Through the platform’s Trader API with a token you make in its API Access view, read-only: the trading account’s closed positions as round trips with their commissions and swaps, the balance, the deposits and the withdrawals; your broker or prop firm has to enable the Trader API. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

Through IG’s API with your API key and login, read-only: every deal of your CFD accounts, the funding, dividends and charges, the deposits and the withdrawals. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

Through Capital.com’s API with your API key and login, read-only: every deal of your accounts, the swaps and commissions, the deposits and the withdrawals. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

Through OANDA’s v20 API with your personal access token, read-only: every account the token sees, forex, metals and CFDs with their commissions, the daily financing (the swap) with the trade it belongs to, the deposits and the withdrawals. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

Through IB’s Flex Web Service with a token and your Flex Queries, read-only: stocks, options, futures and options on futures, the day’s executions a few minutes after the fill, the history and the deposits once a day. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

Through tastytrade’s Open API: you sign in at tastytrade and allow TakeJournal to read, nothing more. Stocks, options, futures and options on futures with their commissions and fees, the whole history and each new trade, the deposits and withdrawals. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

Through Trading 212’s API with an API key and its secret, read-only: the trades of your Invest or Stocks ISA account with their fees, the dividends, the deposits and the withdrawals. Plan: Trader, Pro and Fleet. How to connect →

A CSV, XLSX, HTML or PDF statement of any broker or platform: the AI maps its columns onto fills (or the column names do, without the AI), you check the first fills and trades in a preview, and the mapping is remembered, so the next statement of the same format imports at once. Account numbers never leave the server unmasked. This covers the platforms below the list, migrations from other journals, MetaTrader statements and the exports of crypto exchanges. Plan: every plan (Free one file a day), one AI answer per new format. How →

Kraken, Binance, Bybit and Coinbase by a read-only API key, their spot trades and perpetuals with funding; their trade exports recognised without the AI. Quantities with decimals, results in dollars, the leverage and the liquidation price of a perpetual. Eighteen more exchanges connect the same way: Binance US, BingX, Bitget, Bitstamp, BloFin, Crypto.com, Delta Exchange, Deribit, Gate, Gemini, HTX, Hyperliquid (by the wallet’s address, no key), KuCoin, MEXC, OKX, Phemex, Upbit and WOO X. Plan: the exports on every plan (Free one file a day), the API keys from Trader. Crypto →

For platforms without an API for read-only access, TakeJournal reads the files the platform exports. An import never doubles a trade: the same fill imported twice is recognised. Plan: every plan, Free one file a day.

  • Interactive Brokers — a Flex Query (XML or CSV): stocks, options, futures and options on futures, with expiries and assignments. How →
  • NinjaTrader — the Executions export (Control Center → Trades/Executions → export). How →
  • Tradovate — the fills or the orders CSV. How →
  • R|Trader Pro — the order history export. How →
  • Bookmap — the orders log, with the account names Bookmap uses. How →

Every import ends with a report: what was read, what was already known, which rows could not be read and why, and a per-day reconciliation against the file. Import reports →

Any trade can be typed in: the open, the close, the fees; further fills later. Trades typed in live on manual accounts, on every plan; a manual account counts towards the account limit like a synced one. Trades by hand →

A sync of Tradovate and NinjaTrader web depends on NinjaTrader’s partner programme, which is closed to new vendors at the moment; NinjaTrader 8 Desktop has the add-on above, the web platforms the file imports until it reopens. Match-Trader’s closed positions import as a known format; DXtrade and TradeLocker statements are coming as known formats; until then they go through the mapped import like any other file. Ask for your platform at support@takejournal.com.

MetaTrader 4 statements, MetaTrader 5 history reports and cTrader’s history import as known formats, with the lots, the swap apart from the commission and the balance rows into the ledger; forex pairs, metals and CFDs are typed in by hand too, with their lots, pips and swaps. Plan: trades by hand and the statements on every plan (Free one file a day). Forex and CFDs → · MetaTrader and cTrader →
