DXtrade: the connection
Trader, Pro and Fleet plans.
DXtrade is the trading platform of many CFD brokers and prop firms. TakeJournal signs in to the platform’s API with the address, the user name and the password your firm sent you, and reads the accounts behind that sign-in at each sync. It only reads: it never sends, changes or cancels an order.
DXtrade often carries the broker’s or the firm’s own name: Blueberry’s Blueberry X is DXtrade, for example, with the
platform at trader.blueberrymarkets.com. If your platform has another name and you are unsure, your firm’s support can
tell you whether it runs on DXtrade.
Add the connection
Section titled “Add the connection”Connections → Add connection, type DXtrade, a name, and:
- Platform address: the address of the DXtrade web platform from your firm’s e-mail, for example
trade.yourfirm.com(the whole address withhttps://works too). - User name and Password: your DXtrade login, as your broker or prop firm sent it. The password is stored encrypted and used for nothing but reading; it is deleted with the connection.
- Domain: leave
defaultunless your firm names another.
Add connection saves it and starts the first sync. Test login on the connection’s card lists the accounts DXtrade shows for the sign-in; a refused sign-in says so on the card, with what DXtrade answered. A firm can switch its platform’s API off; DXtrade then refuses the sign-in too, and your firm can tell you whether it is open.
What it reads
Section titled “What it reads”- Every account of the sign-in, named by its number, in its base currency, with its balance and open result as DXtrade shows them at each sync.
- The order history: each trade of an order is a fill, its units in lots of the platform’s lot size (100,000 units of EUR/USD are a lot), at its price. The commissions of the trade are its cost; the financing (the swap) the order carries goes with it. The first sync reads the whole history, later syncs from a week before the last fill.
- Deposits, withdrawals, rebates, charges, corrections, dividends and financing that names no order, into the account’s ledger.
- The instruments as the journal’s forex, metal and CFD contracts with the platform’s lot size and multiplier, named as
the imports name them (
EUR/USD→EURUSD,XAU/USD→XAUUSD). - Each account’s open positions, compared with your fills, so a close the history left out is found (A missing close).
What it leaves out
Section titled “What it leaves out”- The trades’ own settlements in DXtrade’s cash history: the journal works the result out from the fills.
- A position’s corporate actions (splits, expirations): they are rare on CFDs and not read.
