tastytrade (coming soon): connect through the Open API
Coming soon. Trader, Pro and Fleet plans.
tastytrade lets other applications read an account through its Open API, with the permission you give at tastytrade: you sign in there and allow TakeJournal to read your accounts. TakeJournal asks for read access only: it never places an order and cannot. Nothing runs on your PC; the sync reads the accounts from TakeJournal’s server.
Add the connection
Section titled “Add the connection”Connections → Add connection, type tastytrade, and a name. The connection’s card offers Connect tastytrade.
Connect at tastytrade
Section titled “Connect at tastytrade”- Connect tastytrade opens tastytrade’s page. Sign in with your tastytrade login and the two-factor code: tastytrade lets an application read only for an account with two-factor authentication (switch it on under My Profile → Security at my.tastytrade.com first).
- Allow TakeJournal to read your accounts.
- tastytrade brings you back to Connections: the message says the connection is connected, and the first sync starts.
Connect again on the card renews the access after tastytrade ended it; the sync says when that is needed.
What it reads
Section titled “What it reads”- Each open account of your login, named by its number and its nickname (
5WT00001 (Individual)), in dollars. - The trades: the whole history the first time, then with each sync from a day before the last fill. Each trade is a fill keyed by tastytrade’s transaction, with its commission and fees (clearing, regulatory, index option fees) as its costs.
- Stocks and ETFs by their ticker (
BRK/B→BRK.B); options as the journal names them (AAPL 2026-11-20 200 C) with their multiplier, and their expiration, exercise or assignment as the option’s end; futures as the journal’s contracts (/ESZ6→ESZ6); options on futures on their future (ESZ6 2026-12-05 3720 P) with its point value; coins as pairs (BTC/USD→BTCUSD). The option strategies among them are recognised. - Deposits, withdrawals and transfers into the account’s ledger.
- Dividends and the tax withheld from them, on the shares of their symbol (dividends).
- Your open positions with every sync, compared with your fills, so a close that never came through is found (A missing close); a position transferred in, which has no opening fill, raises no warning.
- A stock’s splits, reverse splits, symbol changes and stock dividends, by the shares tastytrade took out and gave back (splits).
What it leaves out
Section titled “What it leaves out”- Interest and the broker’s fees outside trades; the futures’ daily settlement, which is the trades’ own result.
- Positions transferred in or out (ACAT) and the other corporate actions (a merger, a spin-off, an option’s adjustment, a split no plain ratio fits): they are no trades, so a position that came in this way has no opening fill.
- Closed accounts.
The access
Section titled “The access”TakeJournal keeps tastytrade’s grant encrypted and renews the short access token from it by itself, so the connection keeps working without you. To end the access, delete the connection, or revoke TakeJournal’s access at tastytrade.
