TradeLocker: the connection

Trader, Pro and Fleet plans.

TradeLocker is the trading platform of many CFD brokers and prop firms. TakeJournal signs in to TradeLocker’s API with the e-mail, the password and the server you use in TradeLocker, and reads the accounts behind that sign-in with each sync. It only reads: it never sends, changes or cancels an order.

Connections → Add connection, type TradeLocker, a name, and:

  • Where you sign in: demo.tradelocker.com for demo accounts, live.tradelocker.com for the others. If the sign-in is refused, try the other one.
  • Server: the server you choose when signing in to TradeLocker, usually your broker’s or prop firm’s name.
  • E-mail and Password: your TradeLocker sign-in. The password is stored encrypted and used for nothing but reading; it is deleted with the connection.

The e-mail, the password and the server are the login your broker or prop firm sent you, the one TradeLocker’s sign-in page takes under Log in with Broker / Prop. A TradeLocker Profile (app.tradelocker.com, signed in with Google, Apple or an e-mail) and its own demo account have no server and cannot be connected: for a demo, open one with a broker from TradeLocker Hub, whose e-mail brings the login.

Add connection saves it and starts the first sync. Test login on the connection’s card lists the accounts TradeLocker shows for the sign-in; a refused sign-in says so on the card, with what TradeLocker answered.

  • Every account of the sign-in, named by its number and the server (1234567 (BROKER-DEMO)), in its currency, with its balance and open result as TradeLocker shows them at each sync.
  • The order history: each order with a filled quantity is a fill, its filled lots at the average price, at the order’s last change. An order cancelled after a partial fill keeps its filled part. The first sync reads the whole history, later syncs from a week before the last fill.
  • The instruments as the journal’s forex, metal and CFD contracts with the broker’s lot size and quoting currency, named as the imports name them (EURUSD.pro → EURUSD); a stock or an ETF as a stock.
  • Each account’s open positions, compared with your fills, so a close the history left out is found (A missing close).
  • Commissions and swaps: TradeLocker’s order history has none, so the trades’ results are before costs.
  • Deposits and withdrawals: they are not in the order history, and a change of the balance is not read as one (the costs TradeLocker leaves out would look like it); add them in the account’s ledger.
